2017 Volvo S90 R-Design Presented Alongside V90 R-Design, Order Books Now Open

The all-new flagship sedan and family wagon from Volvo are now available in R-Design specification. Just like the XC90 R-Design, the 2017 Volvo S90 and 2017 Volvo V90 with the visual pack are much sexier and a tad sportier than the regular models.

Ticking the R-Design option from the list will add sporty add-ons such as redesigned bumpers front and rear with piano black detailing, a more aggressive front grille, and 5-spoke, diamond-cut matte black wheels.

“R-Design delivers an edge to our elegant estate and sedan models in our 90 Series, with a winning combination of a sportier, more responsive drive with clearly visible performance styling,” said Bjorn Annwall, senior VP of marketing, sales, and customer service at Volvo Cars.

The go-faster looks continue inside, where the S90 and V90 with the R-Design option boast contoured sports seats, a similarly sporty steering wheel, and faux carbon fiber trim that looks surprisingly nice. Other touches that add to the atmosphere include sporty pedals, mats, and ambient lighting. Pricing for the R-Design package isn’t available at the present moment despite the face that the order books are open, yet chances are the S90 and V90 R-Design will be pretty peppered.

In the United States of America, for example, the R-Design package for the Volvo XC90 mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle ranges from $1,900 (T8 Twin Engine) to $5,400 (T5). In other words, the S90 and V89 with the R-Design aren’t cheap, but nonetheless, they’re the bee’s knees.

On the oily front, the R-Design treatment is available for the D4, D5, T5, T8, and the range-topping T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain. Translated to output, you’re looking at 187, 232, 240, 250, 316, and 394 horsepower, respectively. To top it all off nicely, the R-Design package also adds “an advanced sport chassis that delivers an energetic, road-hugging drive” to the S90 mid-size four-door sedan and V90 longroof.
