To make its public debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in the month of October, the Skoda Kodiaq is slated to hit European showrooms at the beginning of 2017. Regarding engines, the most powerful unit will come in the form of an 180 PS 2.0 TSI.
According to the Czech manufacturer owned by Volkswagen, the Kodiaq will be available in a choice of five powerhouses: two TDI turbo diesels and three TSI turbocharged mills. As far as cog swapping is concerned, the spectrum starts with a six-speed manual and tops with a DSG dual-clutch transmission.

To be available in FWD and AWD form, the 2017 Skoda Kodiaq boasts an off-road mode that optimizes the engine management, assistance systems, and electronic chassis helpers (ABS and ESC). If the customer opts for Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), the system adjusts to off-road conditions if the driver plans to get off the beaten track. All in all, it's reassuring to know the Kodiaq can keep its own when the going gets rough.

At 4.7 meters long, the 2017 Skoda Kodiaq is available either as a five seater or with an extra row of seats. Regardless of the number of seats, the maximum cargo capacity is 2,065 liters (72.92 cubic foot). By comparison, the most the Subaru Forester compact SUV has to offer is 2,115 liters (74.7 cuFT).

If you go for the range-topping Columbus infotainment system, the 2017 Skoda Kodiaq is much obliged to provide an LTE module, Wi-Fi hotspot, SmartLink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and much more. Another biggie is the Phonebox inductive charging feature for Qi-enabled smartphones. Even the most basic trim level comes with a capacitive touchscreen, which is jolly good news if the pricing will be “Simply Clever.”

“Our new Skoda Kodiaq SUV is a great all-rounder,” said Skoda CEO Bernhard Maier. “It combines an active sense of vitality with the brand’s classic qualities – a high degree of functionality and an outstanding amount of space. As always, in the design process we have focused on offering a little bit more car, and as a result, the best vehicle in the segment. In addition, with its emotive design, the Skoda Kodiaq is a strong presence on the road.”
