2017 Renault Scenic Spy Video Shows LED Headlights and New Design

The French media doesn't know what the car in this spy video is. But we can tell you with 100% certainty that it's a Renault and 99% certainty that it's the all-new generation of the Scenic.

It's going to debut in June 2016, according to Renault's internal schedules. Considering the current model shares its bits with the old Megane, we aren't surprised to see those sexy all-LED headlights and a new type of interior layout.

You see, both the 2016 Megane (debut at 2015 IAA) and the next Scenic are built on the CMF-C platform. They share not only all the engines but also most of their styling features. Beneath the camouflage, you can clearly see the same grille and powerful new lights.

Another giveaway that this is the Scenic and not the Grand Captur (also in testing right now) is the A-pillar glass. It has a triangular shape that's a trademark of the MPV segment.

A very short peek at the interior reveals the tablet screen in the middle of the dash is shaped the same way as on the Megane. Renault has promised this is the car that will make us fall in love with MPVs again. Considering that bold claim, we really wouldn't be surprised to see that the rear-wheel steering system is offered.

As far as the engines are concerned, the gasoline range will start from a 1.2-liter turbo with 100 horsepower. However, we don't know where it will stop, since the Megane's 1.6-liter powerhouse is not suited for responsible families.

The diesel engine range will include two versions of the 1.5-liter and two more of the 1.6 dCi. Outputs will thus range from 90 to 160 horsepower. Even an electric model has been confirmed and should arrive in 2018.

Renault has promised to expand the compact MPV to more global markets with the launch of the fourth generation model, starting with China. Watch out for a motor show debut during the 2016 Paris venue next fall.
