Space is a strange thing. Sometimes, we feel like there's more of it in a Renault MPV than a BMW 7 Series. Which is why we welcome the arrival of the all-new Scenic.
A couple of months ago, we called it the most over-designed MPV ever made. And we mean that even though we know bout the Citroen C4 Picasso. Wait, there might be a few Japanse models that take the cake.

The 2017 Scenic is not yet on sale and according to our data, production will start in the last few months of this year. Despite this, Renault has already started marketing the car and released several showcase clips. This hasn't been done before, so, of course, we needed to check things out.

There don't seem to be any features that aren't available on any other Renault. But we are impressed with the Park Assist function, for example. It's only been a couple of years since we started testing these options on BMWs.

Head-up display? Definitely a useful feature, but one that you can find on the lowly Mazda2 subcompact.

All things considered, the best feature of the new Scenic is its design. According to the manufacturer, those lovely big alloy wheels you've fallen in love with are going to be standard.

As for the engines, they are pretty much the same ones you found when they launched the new Megane hatchback. These include a 1.2-liter gasoline turbo unit, 1.5 and 1.6-liter diesel. Most, if not all, will be available with either a 6- or a 7-speed twin-clutch gearbox.

Considering what we've seen on the Mercedes B-Class, we believe that the most popular will be the 1.5 dCI Eco2 with 110 PS, regenerative braking, and a 48-volt battery.

Small engines, big trunks and efficient bodies for people who want to move lots of people at one time. Yeah, that sounds like the future of French carmaking. Here are the videos, check it out!
