Ram Truck’s product actions for the near future include a major update for the light-duty model lineup for 2017. Until then, however, a handful of minor updates for MY 2017 will have to do.
First up there’s the Lone Star Silver Edition. Exclusive to Ram Truck dealers located in Texas, the Silver Edition builds on the brand’s top selling truck in the Lone Star State. As a package, the Silver Edition adds $900 to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star. In other words, you’re looking at $38,995 plus $1,320 destination and delivery.

“The Ram Lone Star Edition is the original Texas truck,” explains Mike Manley, the head honcho of Ram Truck. “It’s impossible to overstate the significance of the role Texas plays in the pickup truck segment. At the same time, Ram trucks are an iconic part of the Texas landscape. As the longest-lasting truck in Texas, there are literally millions of Ram pickups still on the roads."

In exchange for the $900 premium, the Silver Edition adds something called a luxury grille, chrome in the form of the grille surround, inserts, mirror caps, side steps, and bright belt moldings. 20-inch polished wheels and front tow hooks are on the menu as well, plus the obligatory Lone Star badging. Inside, the high-back bucket seats are dressed in cloth and vinyl available in two combos: Canyon Brown and Light Frost Beige or Black and Diesel Gray. Exclusively available on the Ram 1500 4x2 and 4x4 in Crew Cab flavor, with short or long box configurations and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, 5.7-liter HEMI V8 or 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel, there’s a Silver Edition for everyone out there.

In related news, the model year 2017 sees the Limited and Longhorn lineups add black RAM lettering on the tailgate in combination with either Brilliant Black or Granite Crystal Metallic paint. This option is priced at $195. The light-duty Longhorn range further adds Keyless Go as standard, as well as SmartBeam headlights and rain-sensing wipers. Last, but not least, the Sport-based Night package is now available from $395 for the 2017 Ram 1500. Elsewhere, the 2500 and 3500 models in Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited trims receive the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine as standard equipment.

A Ram with a Hellcat engine would’ve been more badass, though.
