2017 Porsche Panamera Brings Sexy Back

In a not so emotional teaser, Porsche tries to convince us that courage changes everything, including the Panamera. Frankly, the first-generation Panamera isn’t a looker. Happily, however, that will change once the all-new model steps out into the open.

Until the 2017 Porsche Panamera shows itself at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the teaser pictured above and the accompanying sketch of the car's profile will have to do. What do we have here, then? If you ask me, somebody’s been toning its butt. Yup, the rear end of the all-new Porsche Panamera looks really yummy.

As you can see, the name of the game here is LED. The strip of light emitting diodes that connects the 911-inspired tail lamps is the party piece. Above it, the German automaker fitted an aero-conscious rear wing that’s programmed to rise at speed to put some downforce on the rear wheels. Compared to the active rear wing of the first-gen Panamera, this one is sensibly larger.

The hips, on the other hand, are accentuated in pure 911 style. As for the sketch of the car’s profile, the four-door sedan is that little bit more hunkered down, more dynamic, more sports car-like than the mongrel it replaces. The sketch also showcases a more dramatic front bumper design with king-sized air intakes.

I will spare you the technical details you already know, as in the all-new and lighter platform, the engine lineup, and the hi-tech interior. What I can bring new to the table are the following details: rear axle steering, launch control, and a thunderous sports exhaust system. Porsche also informs that “new Panamera models with Porsche Connect are equipped with intelligent, digital functions and are networked to the digital world.” It was about time, dear Porsche. Signed, everyone.

Watch this space for more 2017 Porsche Panamera highlights. The following weeks will see the German automaker drop more teasers and details about the new breed of Panamera. Oh, and don’t forget that a shooting brake body style is in the offing too.
