2017 Porsche 911 R Lands in Monaco Dealership, Gets Sold for $550,000

The 2017 Porsche 911 R is well into its delivery period now and this also means the flipping season is open. Well, we're here to show you the latest example of a 911 R that has traded hands despite the manual gearbox limited edition's theoretical "sold out" status.

The R-badged Neunelfer you see here comes Monaco, but the car being temporarily accommodated by a dealer in the city-state doesn't explain the price it's reportedly been sold for, which is nearly triple its MSRP (plus or minus an entry-level Ford Mustang).

According to Reddit user RaFFb, who brought the rear-engined coupe to our attention, the supercar, which has recently landed in Monaco, has already found a new owner. The price? EUR500,000 or approximately $550,000.

The Redditor was kind enough also to explain how the car got to the city-state in the first place: "[The friend who got the car is a] Luxury car dealer/broker in Monaco. I think the car came from another dealer in Germany. He has been negotiating for weeks to buy this car."

In theory, Porsche's VIP program, which monitors purchases of such special editions, should prevent such speculation from taking place - for the record, 918 Spyder buyers were all offered the chance to grab one of 991 production slots for the 911 R long before the rest of the world found out about the German automaker building what some label as a lighter GT3 RS without the extreme aero and wearing a manual gearbox as the ultimate accesory.

Alas, this isn't the first case of severe 911 R speculation (here's another example) and it probably won't be the last situation of the kind. Then again, if you're in the market for such a delight and are ready to ignore the ridiculous "used market" pricing, this might be good news for you.

P.S.: Amusingly (at least for those who are not aware of Zuffenhausen's marketing ways), the 2017 Porsche 911 R is still listed on the Porsche website, with its $175,900 MSRP.
