Opel’s testing of the new Zafira facelift is still ongoing, but the car has lost some of its camouflage.
Last week we showed you the first ever spy shots of the facelift applied to the Zafira Tourer, and now we have fresh images of the car. This time, the prototype has less camouflage and reveals more of the vehicle. We can now say for sure that the Zafira Tourer has lost its boomerang-shaped headlights.
The new lighting units look like the ones on the Astra K. For now, it is unclear whether the Matrix LED technology could be available on the Zafira Tourer as well, but there’s a possibility that this could happen to the German MPV.
While quitting the boomerang headlight idea, Opel’s Zafira Tourer still features two boomerang shapes on its front bumper. However, the lower part of the boomerang is just a plastic trim linked to the headlight, instead of a part of the headlight itself.
Most likely, Opel considered that it went a bit too far with the unconventional lights, so they decided to trim down the bold parts of the car’s design. The other explanation for the change could be linked to the decision to introduce the Matrix LED technology on the Zafira. Either way, Opel will undoubtedly explain the design decision when the new Zafira Tourer facelift comes to market.
The facelift for the Opel Zafira Tourer is expected to launch by the end of this year. The MPV is set to receive an upgraded interior, which will include a new multimedia system.
The infotainment system will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The upgraded center console is expected to lose some of its buttons, while materials and other trim elements are set for a few updates as well.
Opel's 2017 Zafira is expected to receive new engine options, along with new transmissions. Most likely, the Zafira Tourer will borrow engines from the new Astra K.
