2017 Nissan Murano Goes On Sale From $30,640

Presented as an all-new offering at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, the third generation of the Nissan Murano is now knocking on the door of the model year 2017. Truth be told, updates aren’t plentiful, but they’re welcome nonetheless.

For the model year 2017, the mid-size crossover SUV produced in Canton, Mississippi, brings forth newities such as Apple CarPlay integration. The smartphone mirroring function also includes Siri Eyes Free, which is a great feature if you like to yell “Hey Siri!” and have the voice assistant cater to your needs.

Another update for the 2017 Nissan Murano comes in the form of Driver Attention Alert or DAA. The optional feature is programmed to learn each driver’s steering patterns. If the driver gets drowsy or inattentive due to fatigue, the DAA system alerts him he’s driving different from his regular patterns.

In terms of pricing, the range starts from $29,740 plus $900 freight for the S FWD model. The cheapest all-wheel-drive offering is the S AWD, which is priced from $31,340. At the top of the range, the 2017 Nissan Murano Platinum AWD commands a retail price of $40,780. As standard, a familiar 3.5-liter V6 with 260 horsepower will have to do, matched to a Xtronic CVT box. A hybridized Murano is also available, hopefully, starting from $40,050 sans the destination and delivery charge.

Available goodies include everything from an oversized Power Panoramic Moonroof to an 8-inch infotainment system, complete with multi-touch control and satellite navigation. Optional extras also include an 11-speaker Boser audio system, Around View Monitor, Blind Spot Warning, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

If the Nissan Murano hasn’t won you over, the mid-size segment is laden with plenty of alternatives. These are the tried-and-tested Dodge Journey ($20,995), Hyundai Santa Fe Sport ($25,350), Kia Sorento ($25,100), Toyota 4Runner ($34,010), Ford Edge ($28,700), Jeep Grand Cherokee ($29,995), and the premium-feeling Volkswagen Touareg ($49,495).
