MINI engineers are testing the upcoming 2017 Countryman, and it appears that the prototype is closing in on its final configuration.
This time, our spy photographers have spotted the 2017 MINI Countryman in a mountainous area, most likely in Western Europe, where the British SUV was being put through its paces by towing a trailer.
While the Countryman is not the first car that comes to mind when someone thinks about towing, the model is being tested this way regardless of the fact that most owners might never attach a tow hook.
The same is done for more affordable cars, as well as more expensive models, so that engineers are sure that a car will hold up for a serious round of towing. Better safe than sorry, right?
Since this prototype is in the final stages of development, MINI has begun fitting elements that are closer to production. As you can observe after a look in the photo gallery, the Countryman comes with production headlights, as well as a fresh front bumper and a redesigned grille.
The rear bumper also looks ready for the production line, and the tow hook seems to be an off-the-shelf element from the optional equipment range.
