Mercedes is gearing up for the German launch event dedicated to the all-new E-Class T-Model, Estate, Touring, Wagon, or whatever you like to call it.
Just like it did with the GLC-Class in 2015, the Mercedes fabricating gnomes have made an entire fleet of cars that the press can enjoy at the same time. In the digital age, having your review be late by a couple of days is equivalent to never happening at all, and we may be bombarded with official footage later this month.

But what will the press want to know about the new E-Class Wagon? For starters, the popular four-cylinder diesel engine has been completely transformed into a competitive 2.0-liter unit. Matched to a 9-speed automatic, it should offer noticeable changes in fuel consumption.

There's an entire fleet of cars assembled in this video. They have different wheels, suspension, grille design and paint, but all share the features we've seen on the W213 E-Class sedan. It will take some time getting used to the idea that the E is so similar to the smaller C-Class, but some differences are easy to spot, like the waves inside the headlights. Overall, we'd say that it's still a car that demands respect without drawing too much attention to itself.

The new fifth-generation "W213" E-Class has been a long time coming, with the current model sitting on the global stage since 2009. A comprehensive styling update in 2013 made the E-Class lose its trademark quad headlight design and softened the edges a bit. Costing a full billion with a b, the facelift was one of the most expensive in automotive history, partly because new tech was introduced.

But the 2017 E-Class has even more to offer in this regard. For example, if your garage is too small for this goliath of a wagon, you can get out and move the car using a smartphone app just like you would with a toy. Mercedes' tech suite can improve safety and comfort at the same time.

For example, the vehicle can automatically adjust its speed based on what its cameras see and sticks to lanes even when they are dirty and hard to see. Mercedes has developed a lane assistant that changes lanes automatically based on what you tell it using the indicators. Even so, we are not blown away, as the Tesla Model S already had similar features.
