We could say that one facelift does not come alone for Mercedes-Benz since besides the upcoming refreshed SL, the company wearing the three-pointed star is also taking care of the executive flavor in its range by working on the new 2017 E-Class.
We’re not entirely free from the dizzy-making psychedelic camo covering the sedan but this time new styling details are visible as the heavy plastic camouflage was taken off around the front and the rear.

The previous set of spyshots only sparkled some light on the sedan’s overall shape, but now we can see two different grilles as well as headlight and taillight styling close to what the S-Class and the C-Class have to offer. However, it is only logical to expect the E-Class’s cabin to take after the S-Class rather than the C-Class.

Carparazzi encountered a large Mercedes-Benz test group of masked E-Class prototypes on their way back from the winter tests in Scandinavia and some cars were photographed with their boots full of luggage. By the way, the current generation’s boot storage capacity looks bigger but it’s too early to say if the upcoming E-Class will fall short in that department.

Engine-wise, Mercedes will spice things up and treat the 2017 E-Class with a new dish made up of new engine generations. As much as AMG versions are concerned, the current 5.5-liter V8 will quit while it’s ahead and leave room for the 4.0-liter V8 already powering the AMG GT and the C 63 AMG.

There’s also the prospect of some multi-turbo magic from Mercedes-Benz, as engineers are perfecting a 2.9-liter unit expected to bring around 405 HP to the table. As it is the case with the SL facelift, Mercedes-Benz will reveal the new E-Class in 2016 as a 2017 model year.
