Mercedes-Benz is clearly one of the main brands that provide the bread and butter for the spy photographers community, as it's permanently got quite a few models in different phases of testing.
Let's recap here a little: there's the C-Class Cabriolet, the AMG E63 together with its T-Modell version, the regular E-Class station wagon, the Maybach E-Class, the S-Class facelift, the AMG GT R, and the GLC Coupe we have right here. And there are probably a few other models we can't recall right now.

We may be the most excited about the AMG E63, but we're willing to bet Mercedes-Benz is more interested in the GLC Coupe. With the SUV/crossover segment sales still growing, this is where Mercedes will be making lots of money. And money is what allows the company to keep producing cars like the AMG GT R or pretty much anything that has an AMG badge on it.

The front end of the car is largely identical, but with some tweaked details. The radiator grille, for instance, has a different mesh and only comes with one horizontal blade, while the bumper can be seen here in two different guises - probably with or without the AMG visual package. Apart from that, the two cars will be impossible to differentiate between when looked at directly from the front.

Open up the angle even a little, though, and the dropped roofline instantly becomes obvious. The GLC Coupe is the closest among the cars using this body style to resemble a jacked-up four-door coupe such as the CLA, for example. The three-box styling is the most obvious here, and the proportion of the glasshouse and the painted metal is a lot better than with the bigger GLE Coupe.

As for the GLC Coupe's rear, the photos reveal it will strongly resemble the GLE Coupe's with the wide, red taillights with a white strike-through provided by the turning indicators and the reverse lamps. The chromed stripe above them seems to be present as well, and the lower part is likely going to be less aggressive than on the larger model.

All in all, visually speaking, the GLC Coupe is a more balanced car than the GLE Coupe, and since it also comes with a much nicer interior and a good selection of engines and transmissions (the same as on the regular GLC), the only thing that still keeps the GLE in the game is the more room it offers.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz Coupe is expected to make a full debut later this year, reaching the dealerships in late 2016 or early 2017. Whatever the case, expect to see a lot of these filling up the streets starting next year.
