2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class T-Modell Spied in Production Guise, Covered in Mud

The current Mercedes-Benz E-Class model is the recipient of the most expensive facelift ever done on a production car, the Germans investing over €1 billion in its making, a sum that would deem some claims that this is actually a new model noteworthy.

Even so, the Swabians soldier on and they are currently working on a whole new model for the E-Class, and God only knows how much money they are investing in it. Our spy photographers just caught up with one of their prototypes and things looked... muddy.

We have no idea through what this car has been put, but it’s rather obvious that clean asphalt wasn’t on the menu. Furthermore, the heavy camouflage blocks us from noticing any new details.

That doesn’t prevent us from seeing its overall shape and design and, as we said before, the new E-Class is more of a baby S-Class than anything else. And if you thought that ‘award’ went to the C-Class you’re going to be terribly wrong when the new E comes out.

Think of it as the perfect middle ground between the C-Class and S-Class and everything that comes with it. Nearly every bit of tech that is missing from the lower end model will be available here, the Germans having to introduce much of the features shown on the full-size sedan on the mid-size newcomer.

Therefore, the only real differentiator between them will remain the level of comfort you get while cruising for longer distances, where the flagship will still be king.

Inside the cabin, the same similarities as on the outside will make their way in, we’re guessing. The digital instrument cluster and the overall design will both be digital while the materials used will be of the same high-quality we’ve come to expect from a Mercedes.

Basically, if you ever wanted a T-Modell S-Class, this is the car for you as the E-Class will offer almost everything an S would and the family-prone body style.

Under the bonnet, an entirely new range of engines will be used, this time from 2-liter 4-cylinder units to 5.5-liter V8s in AMG guise. Oh yes, the E63 AMG will live on but we’re not sure if it will in T-Modell versions as well.
