If you can’t stand the avalanche of spy shots and spy videos with the future Mercedes-Benz E-Class, it’s understandable. If you’re still curious to see more of the new mid-sized sedan from Mercedes-Benz, that’s also OK.
The E-Class has been the bread and butter model of the Stuttgart-based company, and to back that up it’s enough to take a short trip to Germany and see what the taxi driver picking you up from the airport is driving. If it’s not a creamy E-Class, then your flight probably landed in the wrong country.

The E-Class has always been the oddball of the Mercedes-Benz range. Remember when it had two rounded headlights on each side? Or two not-so-rounded ones, like the current generation did until the facelift?

Well, not anymore. All the spy shots we’ve seen so far point towards a new E-Class that’s going to be very difficult to tell apart from the neighboring C- and S-Class without the help of a ruler. The days when the E-Class was special will soon be over, and it’s hard not to feel sorry about that.

On the inside, though, the E-Class has always looked very Mercedes-Benz-like. The new car, we’ve known this for a while, will bear the same trademarks specific to the new range: a dashboard that’s a mix between those in the C-Class and the S-Class, quality materials, and even though it’s hard to tell from this clip where the lower part of the center console is taken out and wires are flying everywhere (there’s even a battery in the rear footwell; for crying out loud - this prototype is a mess), it will most definitely feature careful finishing.

The dashboard itself is completely covered, but we’ve seen that before in the first photographs and a previous video. What we haven’t seen so far are the two front seats that look like they offer very good lateral support - even though they certainly aren’t the standard option.

There’s not much left to be said, apart from the fact that rear legroom appears to be quite decent. See for yourself in the high-quality clip below:
