This year the Mercedes-Benz A-Class received a small facelift that focused more on tech bits than on its actual face. Since the CLA-Class is basically the same model with a different body type, it was only a matter of time until the cheapest Merc in the US received the same treatment.
Our spy photographers caught up with the four-door coupe once again and this time, the camouflage was limited to the headlights and taillights as well as the front bumper. Judging by what we see here, the rest of the car will remain the same which is not a bad thing, since the CLA is a rather new appearance on the road anyway.

Since the design won’t change drastically, the changes will be limited to technical details, new engines and transmission choices. Mercedes will continue its collaboration with Renault and under the bonnet of the refreshed CLA you’ll find the same powerplants as on the A-Class.

Furthermore, the Germans already confirmed that they will be offering new engines for the four-door coupe before the facelift version is launched.

The new entry-level model in Europe will be the CLA160, fitted with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine making 102 HP and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) of torque. On the diesel side of things, the CLA180d BlueEFFICIENCY will use a Renault-sourced 1.5-liter engine with 109 HP and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. It’s supposed to sip just 3.5 l/100 km with CO2 emissions rated at 89 grams per km.

The CLA220d engine gets a 7 HP increase, going from 170 to 177 HP. The same number represents the increase for the CLA250 petrol models that will now have 218 HP to play with instead of 211.

As I said, these new figures are already available for the CLA but in the current body, without the changes brought on by the facelift. Then there’s the CLA45 AMG, of course, that has 381 HP to play with instead of the old 360 HP figure.
