Mercedes-Benz is a byword for luxury, prestige, and innovation. Even the C-Class, the world’s best-selling luxury vehicle in 2015, embodies all of that in a compact executive-sized package despite the fact that the E- and S-Class offer more of everything.
Introduced in 2014 for the 2015 model year, the W205 C-Class isn’t showing its age. From the looks of it, it hasn’t aged a day since production started more than two years ago. Be that as it may, Mercedes-Benz is already preparing a mid-cycle refresh.
Slated to be launched by the end of 2017, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class facelift won’t differ too much from the one waiting to be test driven in the parking lot of your nearest dealership. Word has it the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September will be the place where the veils will be taken off, which means that the American specification should arrive for the 2018 model year or even the 2019 model year.
The spy photos provided by our talented team of carparazzi are revealing redesigned headlights. The biggest change is that the C-Class prototype pictured above features two LED-accented vertical stripes in each of its headlights. This graphic appears to have been inspired by that of the fifth-generation E-Class (W213), a mid-size luxury sedan that will set foot in the United States late this summer.
Other than the lighting system, the front fascia boasts a bumper design with updated intakes and more swooping around the grille. If my eyes aren’t playing tricks on me, the rear end of this test mule is 100 percent similar to that of the outgoing C-Class. The uncertainties in exterior styling continue with what hides under the hood. There’s been a lot of talk recently about the German manufacturer bringing the inline-6 back from the dead and, if my hunch is correct, the engine could be offered in the facelifted C-Class.
