After the sedan, wagon, and LWB sedan, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is ready to evolve into something a little bit sportier. Of course, the next W213 E-Class in line is the E63.
As it’s the case with the C63 and C63 S, the E63 will also spawn an S variant that is expected to pack a mind-boggling 612 PS (604 hp) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. As per a leaked specification sheet, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 will make do with 571 PS (563 hp) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque sent to all corners. Indeed, both E63s are kept in check by 4Matic all-wheel-drive.
Spied by YouTube car spotter Automotive Mike, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 featured in the following video is motivated by a 4.0-liter force-fed V8. If the previously mentioned spec sheet is to be believed, the biturbo fury under the hood is good for a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) and a fuel economy of 8.6 liters per 100 kilometers (27.3 U.S. miles per gallon).
Scheduled to make its first public outing at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in October, the 2016 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S will come with an AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission. As it is expected from a product of Affalterbach, the 4Matic all-paw-drive system is rear-biased.
As far as the exterior design is concerned, the camouflage doesn’t fool us into thinking that this is a regular W213 E-Class. There’re gobs of air intakes up front, there are four square exhaust tips with AMG written on them at the rear, and the magnificent sound. Oh, the sound! Nothing compares to the burbly bellow of an eight-cylinder tower-of-power developed by AMG.
Of course, the mad automotive scientists at Mercedes-AMG skunkworks will apply the E63 and E63 S treatment to the T-Modell as well. Can you imagine how cool a dad you would be if you were to pick up your kid from school in a 604 horsepower station wagon? These being said, coupe and convertible variants of the W123 E-Class in E63 form are in the pipeline as well.
