If you're the kind of devilish track day racer, or a successful racing simulation gamer, you know the feeling you get when having to prepare for lapping the slower drivers at the back of the pack.
Well, the engineers behind the wheel of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 are certainly getting that feeling these days. The fact that the Affalterbach-massaged incarnation of the new W213 E-Class is insanely fast means those who drive it on the Nurburgring sometimes have to pass more often than they have to breathe.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page offers a few samples of the upcoming E63 Working its way past the Ring prototype fauna and action that has generated plenty of giggles within our office.

"Wait a minute, the go-fast sedan is only passing lesser cars!" we hear you saying. Well, that's true, but only if we stick to the clip we have here. Which we won't - this is a good opportunity to remind you of the recent moment that saw the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 pushing the 2018 Audi RS3 Sedan into hefty understeer during their Nordschleife testing sessions.

Sure, there are sharper Green Hell weapons lapping the infamous German track nowadays, whether we're talking about the just-as-AMG-honed GT R or the downright brutal 2018 Porsche 911 GT2, but we haven't gotten the chance to see these clashing with the hoonigan E-Class.

In fact, a more balanced approach is the one involving the 2017 E63 and the 2018 BMW M5, and we've already brought you such an episode, albeit not showing the two cars occupying the same area of the 12.9-mile (20.8 km) circuit.

Before we end this piece, we'll remind you that the upcoming Mercedes-AMG E63 is expected to pack 563 hp in "standard" guise, with the E62 S set to take its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 close to the 600 hp mark.
