Maserati is preparing to refresh its range for the 2017 Model Year, so it has been testing prototypes of its models for a while.
Our friends at SB-Medien have provided us with a set of spy shots of the prototype of the upcoming facelift in the Maserati Quattroporte range. The car has been spotted wearing a thin layer of camouflage on the rear bumper. The rest of the vehicle does not feature any camouflage, and the example spotted by the spy photographers was so clean that you would think that they were prepping it for a photo shoot.
Thanks to the clear pictures, we can observe the design changes applied to Maserati’s Quattroporte. The car kept its quad trapezoidal exhausts and the tail-lights of the current model, but modified the inferior part of the rear bumper.
Meanwhile, at the front, the Quattroporte remains largely unchanged. The Italian carmaker is expected to offer an array of alloy rim designs, along with new colors for its sexy four-door sedan.
The facelift in the Quattroporte range should bring some changes to the interior of the car, but don’t expect a massive overhaul. After all, the company’s upcoming Levante SUV has had its interior discovered, and it turns out that the Italian designers did not go to great lengths to change the brand’s usual interior look and arrangement.
If you are an existing customer, this could be great news as you are already accustomed to the way things are arranged inside a Maserati, but this decision could mean that new clients could not be enticed by the new interior.
Along with the facelifted Quattroporte, Maserati’s range is expected to receive a revitalized Ghibli. However, the upcoming Ghibli facelift is at least a year away from launch.
Also a few years away in the Maserati range are hybrid powertrains. The Italian brand with a trident logo will offer its first hybrids by 2020, a bit late compared to what its rivals are already doing. Hopefully, not too late for the Italian brand known for its stylish cars.
