2017 Lexus IS and IS F Sport Launched With Fresh Commercials

We don't remember when the Lexus IS was initially launched, but a mild facelift has happened halfway through the life cycle. It's still ugly, but thanks to the F Sport model, that ugly is backed up bu muscles and a sharp suit.

The US market debut happened in September at an event in Miami. Now, sales have begun, and new commercials have also been shot, ones that capture what Lexus is all about.

The front end concentrates most of the changes for the IS. Both the standard and the F Sport look bolder, resembling the GS and GS F in many ways.

The regular IS has horizontal bars borrowed from the SUV lineup. Changes have also been brought to the side air intakes. Unfortunately, the cool LED headlights developed for the Japanese market aren't available, leaving the sedan looking bug-eyed.

As for the IS F Sport, it uses a diamond grille pattern. Black accents are added to the bottom of the bumper to make it look aggressive. Unfortunately, the side air intakes are clearly fake which is why I think the regular car looks more natural, especially thanks to the double exhaust that now comes with the IS 200t.

Thanks to that turbo engine, Lexus can keep up with the Audi A4, Mercedes C250 and BMW 328i in the four-banger wars.

Two colors have also been added to the pallet, namely Caviar and Nightfall Mica, while the IS 350 will now get its own set of 5-spoke 18-inch wheels as standard.

Inside, we see in the videos that Lexus partly tried to pay for its sins with the new Display Audio centering around a Display Audio with a 7-inch screen and Scout GPS Link, or an optional navigation system with Remote Touch and a new 10.3-inch screen. It kind of looks like the latest BMW MMI. Anyway, check out the commercials and some of the photos released of the 2017 compact executive sedan.
