Whereas the full-size QX80 is as ugly as sin, the mid-size QX60 sweetens the deal with better proportions and a more attractive face. After the mid-cycle update for the model year 2016, 2017 brings forth a new engine and a handful of technology and convenience features, as well as a negligible price bump.
At $44,095, the 2017 Infiniti QX60 is $500 more than the previous model year. It’s worth it, though, considering what you get in return for this tiny increase in price. Now available at Infiniti retailers across the U.S., the big news is that here’s a new motor hiding under the crossover’s sinuous hood.

Although similar to the 3.5-liter direct-injected V6 found in the redesigned Nissan Pathfinder, the QX60’s engine prides itself on more get-up-and-go: 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Compared to MY 2016, that’s an increase of 30 horsepower and 22 lb-ft. Compared to the Pathfinder, that’s 11 horsepower and 11 lb-ft more. As standard, the DOHC V6 powerplant is matched with a not-exactly-sporty continuously variable transmission (CVT). Curiously enough, the QX60 Hybrid was dropped from production.

Alas, only the front- and all-wheel-drive variants are left in the lineup. For the range-topping QX60 AWD, the Hong Kong-based Japanese carmaker wants $1,800 more than what it charges for the front-wheel-drive variant. Also new for the model year 2017, the 7-seater crossover SUV features a new InTouch infotainment system, which integrates every gizmo you’d expect from a luxurious vehicle in the instrument panel-mounted control system.

Available options include the Deluxe Technology Package, which offers a Motion Activated Liftgate, High Beam Assist, and automatic side dimming mirrors. The Drivers Assistance Package also includes auto side dimming mirrors. Then there’s the Theater Package, an option that adds dual 8-inch color monitors in the front seats’ headrests to keep the kids happy on the long haul, a 12V power point, an HMDI port, a USB port, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot with 2GB of data on tap plus 3 months of complimentary trial.

Rated Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 2017 Infiniti QX60 offers plenty of passive and active safety technologies. The highlights include Backup Collision Intervention, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, and Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.
