After months of teasers and leaked pics, we finally get to see Honda’s all-new crossover scooter - the 2017 X-ADV. And it’s the same as in the patent design photos.
According to Honda, the X-ADV is truly a multi-purpose scooter, managing to combine “the spirit of adventure with all-round performance, premium specifications, practicality, and comfort for urban commuting and weekend escapes.”

“Designed at Honda’s Rome R&D center, its styling lines capture the essence of two-wheeled freedom in an exciting new form.”

The new X-ADV might look a bit plasticky, but underneath is said to be a tough chassis and enough room for a full-face helmet, with the underseat storage compartment measuring 21 liters (0.74 cu-ft). A 12V power socket is also located under the seat.

Cushioning the bumps is a long-travel inverted fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Stopping power is provided by twin discs with radial mounted four-piston calipers at the front and a more standard configuration at the rear.

As expected for a two-wheeler that is supposed to tackle some unpaved roads, it comes with wired wheels (a la BMW) which are wrapped in Bridgestone Trail Wing rubber. Other features include handguards, a five-position adjustable windshield, a very useful centerstand, Honda Smart Key system and a multi-functional LCD dashboard.

Burried somewhere under all that angled bodywork is a 745 cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine mated with a Honda Dual Clutch Transmission. The system offers 55 HP and 68 Nm (50 lb-ft) of torque, which is will be very useful in offroad environments as well as in between the city stoplights.

The fuel tank can hold 13.1 liters (3.4 gal), and Honda says the average fuel consumption for the X-ADV is rated at a very optimistic 3.6 l/100 km (64.6 mpg).

All lights are LED, and the adventure scooter can be had in two standard and two special edition finishes: Digital Silver Metallic, Matt Bullet Silver, Pearl Glare White and Victory Red. ABS and Euro 4 compliance come by default.

Optionals include two top boxes - a 45-liter (1.6 cu-ft) one that can swallow two full-face helmets and is offered in four color options plus a back rest, as well as a 35-liter (1.2 cu-ft) box that features an aluminum-look finish - a rear rack, front bars, leg/foot deflector shields and floor plates.

No price information has been released for now, and we’re not sure the X-ADV will reach the U.S. soon.
