Volkswagen might be saying that it has revealed the entire Golf family today, but there are several members missing. For example, there's no R hatch or wagon. And don't tell me they didn't make a new Alltrack because I've seen photos.
What has been revealed is the Golf GTI mid-life facelift, which for the first time in... forever has power upgrades as well. Exciting!

These are about as big as those seen when the Mk5 GTI transitioned to the MK6. That's right; the standard Golf GTI will go from 220 PS to 230 PS. It's still nowhere near class leaders like the Megane RS 275, Peugeot 308 GTI or Ford Focus ST. But the hot Golf has always been the all-rounder.

If you go for the Performance Pack, you're going to get 245 horsepower. Let's face it, if you take the better brakes and the diff into consideration is a no-brainer at only €1,175 extra.

As you can see, there are some exterior changes as well, including revised headlights, grille, side intakes and rear diffuser. LED taillights are standard, but the ones at the front likely cost extra. Those 19-inch wheels look nice, but they probably cost a pretty penny.

We've only got one photo of the GTI interior, but it's enough. This hot version of the Golf clearly gets its on graphics for the digital dash and is available with the largest central screen. Seeing G-forces and lap times isn't new, but you've got more pixels on that 9.2-inch display.

Something else we've noticed is that the gear shifter no longer has the trademark golf ball shifter. The seat fabric is new, applying the famous tartan print and what looks like artificial leather in the middle.

We know from the regular Golf that the engines will send power through a manual transmission or a newly developed 7-speed DSG dual clutch ‘box that’ll phase out the current 6-speed DSG. It's the same as on the Leon and the Audi A3. So that pretty much means the GTI will get a 7-speed as well, just as we predicted.
