For the second-generation GMC Acadia, the manufacturer decided to slash $1,905 off the price of the 2016 model year. Thanks to the suggested retail price of $29,995, the entry-level 2017 GMC Acadia costs just as much as the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
As standard, the base Acadia SL FWD comes with a 2.5-liter engine and an IntelliLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For front-wheel-drive models equipped with the Ecotec 2.5-liter, the four-banger is expected to return an estimated 28 mpg (8.4 l/100 km) highway and 22 mpg (10.7 l/100 km) city thanks to tricks such as Stop&Start.

Internally known as the LCV, the 2.5-liter motor is matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission from the get-go. There’s also an available V6 with a displacement of 3.6 liters. It is similar to the LGX powerplant that equips the Chevrolet Camaro LT, but it’s not as powerful. Mind you, 310 horsepower is sufficient for a GMC Acadia that’s 700 pounds (317 kilograms) lighter than the 2016 model year.

With the optional towing package, the V6-powered 2017 GMC Acadia can tow up to 4,000 pounds (1,814 kilograms) of bits and bobs. Fuel economy for front-wheel-drive models with this engine is estimated by GMC at 25 mpg (9.4 l/100 km) city. In terms of family hauling capabilities, the Acadia can effortlessly accommodate up to seven people. “Acadia takes GMC’s proven SUV experience to the heart of the midsize crossover segment with a compelling package of great design, the latest technologies and the brand’s signature capability,” commented Duncan Aldred, the vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing.

Other than the SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali models, the 2017 GMC Acadia is available in All Terrain AWD specification (pictured). This $40,040 behemoth comes with an Active Twin Clutch all-wheel-drive system and an All Terrain mode optimized for off-road driving and more capability in wet, snowy, and icy conditions. Sales of the all-new GMC Acadia will start this spring. More details on this gentle giant, including the full pricing list, can be found in the press release below the following video.
