2017 Ford GT Makes Jaws Drop at the Geneva Motor Show , Live Photos

When it comes to the most aesthetically vibrant supercar design, it’s a given the Italians are at the top of it since the six-liter inline-four A.L.F.A. 40/60 HP racecar materialized back in 1913. However, history has shown us that Italian automotive design was outclassed on a number of occasions.

The Ford GT40 is a bulletproof case of how a blue-collared manufacturer can make one of the most visually enticing vehicles out there. After the British-built GT40 grabbed four wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Blue Oval followed up with the Ford GT.

Built between 2004 and 2006 in limited numbers, the Detroit-made supercar trumped everything in its path, be it Fezza, Lambo or Porsche. Despite its extremely tempting styling, many couldn’t get over the fact that a pickup truck engine animated this beast. Thankfully, FoMoCo understood the hits and misses of the GT.

Therefore, the Detroit Auto Show in January saw a hugely surprising unveiling of the hi-tech and gorgeous 2017 Ford GT, the second generation model that will enter production in 2016. As a true vehicle made according to the One Ford global strategy, we’ve been given a dose of the 2017 Ford GT at Geneva too.

Technically speaking, there’s nothing new over the Detroit show car: 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 with over 600 horsepower, carbon fiber, a 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle and looks that will make panties drop. Some say that the GT lost its all-American toughness speaking from a visual point of view, but then again...

... for the love of all things holy! Those humongous flying buttresses, lateral intakes and F/A-18 Hornet jet fighter propelling nozzle-styled exhaust pipes make the 2017 Ford GT a far more interesting sight than its honorable predecessors and outgoing lineup of super exotica metal manufactured in Bella Italia. Full stop!
