Those who have watched the first episode of Chris Evans-fronted Top Gear may remember that Gordon Ramsey confirmed that the LaFerrari Spider will be built in very limited numbers. Now, though, autoevolution discovered a company that sells a 1/43 scale model of the 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Spider.
If memory serves me well, we’ve learned how the Volvo S90 sedan looks like from a 1/43 diecast model as well. Here’s hope that the yet-to-be-presented LaFerrari Spider pictured here will mirror the design of the real deal. Due to start production in 2017, the open-top hypercar will be built in 150 examples, making it much rarer than the fixed-head model.
There’s not much information available on the roof of the LaFerrari Spider, albeit Canadian racecar driver and business entrepreneur Josh Cartu said something about an intricate folding mechanism. The 1/43 scale model built by Kane & Co. shows a glass engine cover and a trapezoidal compartment behind the seats, the place where the removable roof should retract. Still, I’m betting my two cents on a removable hard top.
autoevolution reader John told us that Ferrari will offer the LaFerrari Spider in five colors. More specifically: red, yellow, black, white, and gray. The 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Spider is expected to retain the 950 horsepower powertrain of the fixed-head model. A 6.3-liter V12 and an electric motor are on the menu.
It’s fair to expect a heftier sticker than that of the coupe. Word on the street is that the Prancing Horse will charge €3.5 million, which is a heck of a lot of cash for a LaFerrari with its roof hacked off. If you’re not rich enough to afford such a machine, you can get a taste of the LaFerrari Spider by paying $430 on the toy car.
