With Chrysler currently working to complete the final stages of development for the 2017 Town and Country, the test prototypes have finally dropped most of the vinyl camouflage, revealing their silhouettes.
Since the psychedelic wrap is still on the car, we’re far from having the complete picture. However, we’ve added a set of earlier spyshots to the gallery below, with these showing the Chrysler 200-inspired headlights.
While Chrysler was supposed to release the new Town & Country this year, it seems the carmaker will make it worth the wait. The new Town & Country is expected to move upmarket, with both the styling and the features of the people mover set to benefit from this.
While a current Town & Country was present, the competing vehicles included in the group were the Honda Odyssey and a Kia Sedona. Interestingly enough, the Toyota Sienna was missing, which brings us a hint on how Chrysler sees this segment of the market.
Just as important, Chrysler will offer an all-wheel-drive version. In order to save space, the driveshaft has been eschewed, with the Town & Country set to use an electric motor for powering the rear axle. Set to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain, this model will be a segment first.
The list of premium features will include goodies such as sliding doors activated by proximity sensors, while the interior ergonomics are expected to sit at an impressing level.
With the Chrysler brand set to give us the new Town & Country next year, Dodge will keep the current Caravan in production as a low-cost alternative.
