For the 2016 model year, the Chevrolet Volt introduced a fresh design to an already sleek machine and more green tech to an already eco-conscious means of transport. As such, Chevrolet didn’t do much to improve the Volt’s credentials for the 2017 model year.
The friendly people at Inside EVs report that production of the 2017 Chevrolet Volt started this week. This means that the time is right to haggle with your dealership on the price of that 2016 Volt you’ve always wanted. After all, when a new model year goes into production, it’s in the dealer’s interest to move the previous model year vehicles on the lot as fast as possible by offering good deals.

Differences between the 2016 and 2017 Chevrolet Volt start with the fact that the 2016MY wasn’t sold in all US states due to... well, reasons. Happily, however, the 2017MY will be available nationwide. Another different aspect is that the new model can be equipped with features like Forward Automatic Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control.

To please the Environmental Protection Agency, engineers made the 2017 Chevrolet Volt compliant with the EPA’s so-called Tier 3 Vehicle Emission and Fuel Standards Program. In plain English, that translates to reduced tailpipe and evaporative emissions. For those who want to make a fashion statement, Chevrolet now offers the Volt with a paint finish dubbed Citron Green Metallic (RPO code GA1).

Sans the full $7,500 federal tax credit and including destination, the 2017 Chevrolet Volt will set you back $34,095 for the LT. If you move on up to the Premier, prepare to pay $38,445 for added bits and bobs such as the Bose Premium Audio System, leather-appointed seats, heated power-adjustable exterior mirrors, 17-inch ultra-bright machined finish wheels with painted pockets, and so forth.

The 2017 Chevrolet Volt is rated at 53 electric miles, with real-world figures topping 48 electric miles without even trying to drive as efficiently as possible. The first units will hit dealer lots in about eight weeks' time.
