BMW came with two additional retro-styled bikes at INTERMOT this month to make the R nineT platform a cooler and more accessible for new riders wanting to enter the Bavarian manufacturer’s world. Known as the Racer and Pure versions, the bikes also got a price in Europe, so you can know what to expect when they arrive in the US.
As usual, Germany is the first to put a price on its machines, so the entry level R nineT Pure got tagged at €12,300, including the 19 percent VAT (Value Added Tax), while the cafe-styled Racer model is offered at €13,300.

Subtract the 19% tax and convert the numbers into US dollars at current rates, and you end up with around $11,500 for the Pure model as well as approximately $12,400 for the Racer variant.

As a reminder, the other cool R nineT variant, the Scrambler, is priced at €13,000 (VAT included), which roughly translates to $11,600 at current rates.

The Racer and Pure R nineT variants share a lot of parts. Starting with the tubular frame, also used on the Scrambler, which can be easily tuned for a solo seat thanks to a removable rear subframe and passenger pegs. Next, come the standard forks and the four-piston Brembo brake calipers replacing the radial-mounted Monoblock ones on the original version.

All three models also ditch the expensive tubeless wire-spoke rims in favor of 17-inch cast-alloy wheels. The engine is the same 1,170 cc air-cooled boxer-twin that generates 110 hp. It got a bit modified through the use of a new exhaust system, ECU mapping, and a larger catalytic converter to meet Euro 4 emissions standards.

Other than that, the differences between the BMW R nineT Pure and Racer come in the shape of different color setups as well as a half-fairing and dual-gauge dash for the Racer.
