Let’s be honest, the fastest way of getting around the city (except for the subway) is riding on two wheels. And the greener they are, the better since you also get lower taxes and cheap “fuel”. And BMW just pushed the trigger on a new C Evolution electric scooter for 2017.
BMW Motorrad’s scooter segment just got a bit better, as the Bavarian company unveiled the new C Evolution electric two-wheeler. Using a new generation of batteries, as used in the current BMW i3 electric vehicle, the scooter is praised for its increased range compared to other models in the market.

The C Evolution will be available in two versions - the Long Range and the European models. The first offers a continuous output of 19 kW (26 HP), which is 8 kW (11 HP) more than the predecessor model. Peak output for this variant maxes out at 35 kW (47 HP).

Thanks to a new generation of batteries with a cell capacity of 97 Ah, the range has also been extended to around 160 km (100 miles). Top speed is limited at 129 km/h (80 mph), and it will reach 50 km/h (31 mph) from a stand still in 2.8 seconds.

For Europe only, there will be an A1 compliant model with a continuous output of 11 kW (15 HP) and a maximum of 35 kW (48 HP). The model is rated at a top speed of 120 km/h (74 mph) and a range of around 100 km (62 miles) on a full battery.

The BMW C Evolution also comes with an extended range of standard features including a multifunctional TFT instrument cluster, LED daytime running lights, LED turn signals, different riding modes, and even a reverse mode. ABS and regenerative braking are offered as standard along with a charging cable with a smaller diameter than the previous model.

Its three-disc braking system and a low center of mass make the C Evolution an agile city runabout. And thanks to its compact drivetrain, there’s enough room under the seat to fit a full-size helmet or your groceries bag.

The BMW C Evolution will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show 2016. Prices haven’t been released so far, but we expect the European version to get a tag of around €15,000 ($16,840).
