Even though the 2017 BMW 5 Series G30 isn't yet officially in all showrooms, the Bavarians have already started to offer accessories for the model.
We're not just talking about a new set of wheels and a couple of stickers here, though, but a full-on M Performance styling kit, complete with a bunch of power upgrades as well.
In fact, the M550i xDrive is already much faster off the line than an M5 F10, and now it can also have the looks to back that up in a visual manner. Thanks to 462 hp and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque and the inclusion of xDrive all-wheel-drive, the model can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4 seconds, so it's plenty fast even without an M Performance power pack.
That said, the six-cylinder 540i in both RWD and AWD guise can now get a power bump of 34 hp, to 360 hp, and 50 Nm to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. BMW doesn't say how these improve the acceleration figures, but it does mention that the fuel consumption and exhaust emission values remain identical to the stock version.
The second 5 Series model to get a factory power kit is the 530d (both RWD and AWD versions), which has its output increased by 27 hp to 292 hp and 30 Nm to 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.
The cornucopia of M Performance tweaks for the 5 Series G30 also includes a set of redesigned exhausts for the gasoline models and a recalibrated Active Sound system, which makes the passengers feel like they're in a car with a different type of engine for the most part.
Optionally you can also tailor the exterior look of your next 5 Series with attachments to the front bumper, a rear diffuser, and a rear spoiler lip in a carbon fiber finish. Those rare breeds who despise carbon fiber and/or prefer or more subtle look can also get the rear spoiler lip and the diffuser made out of polyurethane (PUR).
Other than that, there are also new M Performance wheels, brakes and a bunch of subtle interior tweaks that significantly increase the number of M badges on the car. As always, since they come directly from BMW, none of these bits tampers in any way with the vehicle's warranty.
