In 2010, Audi fans petitioned for the TT RS to be brought to the US. Four years later, they did it again, this time for a manual in the all-new TT. It seems they might get both in one very fast package. Our spies in Sweden have sent us photos of a coupe prototype that's clearly the next-gen TT RS. The surprise is found inside, as the car features a conventional 6-speed manual gearbox.
You can't get a 6-speed stick on the TT RS' twin car, the RS3. So we think this means the performance coupe is designed for the US market. What makes us say that? Well, the old S4/S5 is available with a manual in America... and pretty much nowhere else.

The manual will make the TT RS slower, since performing those insane launches at 4,000rpm will be replaced by the driver's right foot. Selectable drive modes will also be less useful, since you are the one who controls when the gears are changed, not the car.

However, many people like to swap their own cogs while driving on a twisty mountain road. And it's for them that Audi will launch the manual TT RS, likely at the New York Auto Show 2016 at the end of March.

While the TT will never handle like a Porsche 911, we are very excited about its RS version. It's likely to become the fastest car ever built on the MQB platform, thanks to lightweight body matched to a 2.5 TFSI sledgehammer.

Audi says the RS3 will do 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, but it's more like 4.0s. The TT RS will be about 100 kg lighter and 15 centimeters shorter. It might even have some extra power, so we could end up with a 3.7-second coupe. Of course, we are talking about the model with the twin-clutch option, not the manual.

However, speed is only half of the TT RS' charm. While the RS3 looks like a chubby girl with a nice cleavage, the TT is that hot girl you liked in school. Oh, and now, she has the body of a lingerie model and dresses appropriately.

The dual oval exhaust system mounted on the prototype is the first clue. However, the car also features high-performance RS brakes and lowered suspension. Later on, a new body kit will complete the transformation.
