Before the V8 Vantage gets replaced by an all-new generation next year, British manufacturer Aston Martin is milking the cash cow with the so-called Vantage GTS, the American version of what Aston Martin calls the V8 Vantage S in Europe. Spoiler alert: this is your last chance of acquiring a naturally aspirated V8 Vantage.
Word has it the 2018 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, the new one, will go twin-turbo. The most likely motivator comes in the form of the 4.0-liter V8 of the Mercedes-AMG GT. But that is then and this is now, so let’s focus on the Vantage GTS. For $137,820, the British automaker will sell you this beautiful, beautiful grand tourer with the heart of a sports car. By comparison, the Mercedes-AMG GT S retails for “just” $129,900.

Under the swooping hood, you’re greeted by the idiosyncratic raspiness of a 4.7-liter V8 with 430 horsepower and 361 lb-ft (489 Nm) of torque on tap. Indeed, the performance isn’t up there, if you know what I mean. Heck, the Jaguar F-Type R churns out 550 ponies from its supercharged Five-Point-Oh. Depending on your style, the Aston Martin can tailor the drivability of the Vantage GTS with either an honest-to-God 6-speed stick shift or a more laid back 7-speed automatic.

Opt for a textile roof instead of the standard fixed-head model and you’re looking at $153,320. Regarding trim levels, customers of the 2017 Aston Martin Vantage GTS are able to choose between sport and lux grades. Be warned: sport equals stiffer dampers for better cornering. Lux, on the other hand, makes the Vantage GTS more luxurious, in keeping with the model’s GT persona.

Those who want four more cylinders from the Vantage, Aston Martin has a solution for you. For the 2017 model year, the V12 Vantage S is priced at $191,620. If you prefer the seven-speed manual, that’ll be $202,820, thank you! In related news, yes, the twin-turbocharged 2017 Aston Martin DB11 can drift.
