2017 Aston Martin Vantage GTS Is for American Eyes Only

Gaydon has a mysterious way of doing business that makes articles with titles such as "Aston Martin Line-Up Explained" becoming relevant every once in a while. Well, we're about to enter that dimension again, as the Brits are enjoying effervescent activity these days, with Aston now introducing the US-only Vantage GTS.

The announcement comes shortly after the automaker introduced the 100-unit manual gearbox V12 Vantage S, while the Brits have recently been spied working on a Vantage GT8. Oh, and let's not forget the not-exactly-old DB11.

Returning to the GTS, this is basically a melange of the entry-level (don't take the label literally) GT and the better-equipped S, so the American clientele will be able to get it in both coupe and open-air trim.

The GTS itself comes in two incarnations, the Sport and the Lux. Both are motivated by the V8 Vantage's 4.7-liter V8, while both let one choose between a six-speed manual and a seven-speed automated manual.

While back in the day you had to order the sports suspension as an option for the Vantage, this comes as standard for the GTS Sport, with carbon fiber details completing the scenery.

As for the Lux, this doesn't make use of the sport suspension and replaces the carbon fiber details with gloss black ones. In the infotainment department, the otherwise optional Bang & Olufsen audio system is a standard goodie.

All 2017 model year Vantage versions, along with the Vanquish and the Rapide will get an infotainment upgrade, courtesy of the company's refreshed AMi III system. We hate to play this card, but it was about time for a change in this field.

With Aston Martin jumping the twin-turbo bandwagon, you can see the GTS as a naturally aspirated effort that will be missed in the future. The price for one of these? Nothing is official yet, but expect things to start at around $135,000.
