Italian motorcycle gear makes Alpinestars recently unveiled its new range of protection garments, including new gloves, jackets, pants and even full leather suits, all in a new black/white/red color setup. And here we'll have a look at their most important new additions.
Starting with the top shelf, the new $1,199.95 Alpinestars GP Plus Leather Suit is the first asymmetric-themed one-piece the company offers to the public. The suit is made of 100% 1.3mm thick bovine leather. It also comes with a 3D mesh around the neck and around 50% perforation to offer great ventilation.
The suit is slightly pre-curved, but not in a full-race mode. After all, the GP Plus is intended for street use as well, so it's not a pure racing piece. Poly-fabric stretch panels are fitted on the crotch area, underarms, calf region and the back of the knees to allow better movement. Accordion leather can also be found on the knees, elbows and shoulders for the same effect.
Also new is the Jaws/Stella Jaws jacket, coming at $499.95, and offering a more traditional symmetric design. It is available in perforated and non-perforated version and is made from 1.2-1.4mm bovine leather. It comes with removable CE armor for the shoulders and elbows, also being able to get a chest and back protector as an option.
Comfort is again assured by precurved shapes and microfiber lining on key zones that come in contact directly with the skin. A new black reflective strip can be found on the lower back, and there's also a waterproof pouch incorporated to keep your phone or other items.
Another important addition to the lineup are the new Supertech gloves ($399.95), an evolution of the GP Pro glove that has been in development for three years. It is a CE Certified Level 2 racing glove make out of Kangaroo leather and comes with improvements like aramid fiber patches on the palm and thumb areas, heat resistant carbon X membrane as well as a bridge between the ring and little fingers to stop separation.
