The second generation Volvo S60 is getting a bit gray-haired now considering production started 5 years ago. Still, the Swedish marque breathed new life into the compact executive sedan through this bugger right here - the Volvo S60 Cross Country, an all-new variation of the S60 which promises an engaged driving experience off the beaten path.
In a similar fashion to the VW Passat alltrack and the Skoda Octavia Scout, Volvo’s Cross Country recipe adds extra ground clearance for improved softroading prowess and some black cladding for that rough and tough exterior look most of us like. However, something bothered us about this unit of the all-new 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country sedan.
As we were walking towards the Scandinavian brand's stand at NAIAS, the center of the stand was dominated by the 2015 XC90, while this Cross Country, the newest model, was placed in a corner.
As far as the cabin is concerned, the Swedes do know how to make you feel at home from the moment you open the driver’s door. Once you hop inside, you get easily accustomed to the airy feel of the cabin, the switchgear and the infotainment system. But in comparison to the normal S60, the 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country has some specially appointed seats, buttery leather, contrasting brown stitching and all.

Illumination wasn’t brilliant either, which is a big shame considering how cool the matte grey hue looks.
