The fact that Triumph was about to bring heavily updated Modern Classics this fall was known for some time, and now the British house revealed the Triumph Bonneville T120 and T120 Black. The two models retain the iconic, ageless style of the older Bonnies, but there is so much more than meets the eye.
One of the biggest changes is, obviously, the all-new power plant, which now taps into the very appealing 1,200cc range and received liquid cooling.
Hinckley has not revealed the tech specs, but we can expect the new engines to be more powerful and produce more torque than the previous editions. Torque is rumored to reach 77 lb-ft or 104.5 Nm. At the same time, Triumph adds that the fuel economy was significantly improved and the emissions are cleaner.
The new Bonnies also come with slip assist clutch that make pulling the lever less fatiguing in stop and go traffic, and add a three-step grip heating system as standard.
As the new Bonneville receives so many electronic upgrades, it was only natural that Hinckley revised the instrumentation. The twin clocks now boast a neo-retro look and have backlit LCD screens that convey a lot of information, such as selected riding mode, gear position, heated grip status, odometer, dual trips, service indicator, remaining range, average and current fuel consumption, clock, ABS and traction control settings.
Daytime riding lights and LED tail lights are also stock, as is the USB charging socket. An optional "Inspiration" kit will also be available. It includes a special 4-bar chrome tank badge, a ribbed and stitched seat, Vance & Hines peashooter slip-on exhausts, black barrel grips, mini LED blinkers and chrome engine covers. The T120 Black arrives in Matt Graphite or Jet Black, while the standard version is offered in two-tone graphics.
Stay tuned for more info, price, and availability.

ABS, RbW, riding modes and more upgrades are on the list
Even though the Bonneville T120 and T120 Black remain faithful to their roots, Triumph has integrated a lot of modern-day technologies in these bikes. Still cleverly hidden under the retro guise we can find ABS, ride-by-wire and two riding modes, Road and Rain, which obviously introduce Traction control. The new Bonnies also come with slip assist clutch that make pulling the lever less fatiguing in stop and go traffic, and add a three-step grip heating system as standard.
