2016 Toyota Tacoma Sounds Better in New Teaser

Guess that Toyota really wants to torture us with the upcoming new-generation Tacoma. We saw a bit of the front, a portion of the tailgate and now this - the sound.

Toyota just released a new video to raise the hype around the next Taco. But if you were expecting to see some actual shapes we’ll have to burst your bubble and tell you there’s only smoke and mirrors here... well, dust and sound, but you get it.

The video, which you can see below, will only show you some dust being raised by the invisible 2016 Tacoma in an arid landscape, but at least you’ll hear it singing. And it does that quite good.

We can’t tell 100 percent that the audio is unedited, but our ears detect an enhanced 4-liter V6 unit or at least an upgraded exhaust system. The previous V6 was making 236 hp and 266lb-ft of torque and was mated to a 5-speed automatic box sending power to either the rear or all the wheels.

The earlier sneak peek photos show the new Tacoma will look more rough, wearing at least redesigned bumpers, a new hexagonal grille with horizontal bars like the Tundra, slimmer headlights, LED taillamps, new rims and stamped logos.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next year, where the 2016 Toyota Tacoma will make its first appearance. Or maybe the automaker decides to surprise-unveil it over the Internet before then.
