For the fourth-generation Toyota Prius, the Japanese manufacturer has pushed the (plug-in) hybrid game even further. Better still, the pricing has been left unchanged from the 2015 model year. But what sort of 2016 Toyota Prius do you get for the suggested retail price of $24,200?
A fuel economy rating of 54 mpg city (4.3 l/100 km), 50 mpg highway (4.7 l/100 km), and 52 mpg combined (4.5 l/100 km) is one of the potential answers. More straight to the point, $24,200 buys you the entry-level Prius Two model. Step up to the Prius Two Eco ($24,700) and you're looking at added frugality and more in-car technology.

Believe it or not, the 2016 Toyota Prius Two Eco is capable of returning 58 mpg city (4 l/100 km), 53 mpg highway (4.4 l/100 km), and 56 mpg combined (4.2 l/100 km) thanks to less weight, better aerodynamics, and some tweaks to the hybrid powertrain.

As for the Prius Three ($26,250), more convenience is the name of the game. According to Toyota, the Prius Three Touring ($28,100) is the one to go for if you want "a more dynamic driving experience." For an extremely economical hybrid vehicle, the truth is that the driving experience is the last thing on one's mind.

And now we get to the interesting part of the 2016 Toyota Prius - the Prius Four ($28,650), which offers more of everything. As for the range-topping Prius Four Touring ($30,000), this eco-friendly machine is for the "drivers who want it all." In plain English, that translates to all the bells and whistles available.

Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota Group, is adamant that "This Prius will invite new drivers into the category by delivering an impressive look and feel, built on the foundation of safety and eco-consciousness that define the vehicle’s heritage."

We couldn't agree more. Mind you, some people will be put off by the anime-inspired styling of the 2016 Toyota Prius. But ultimately, styling is a small price to pay compared to what you win at the gas pump.
