While future Mirai owners based in California are still waiting for their cars to hit showrooms this fall, Toyota took their time to release a record-setting EPA-estimated range for the Mirai fuel cell EV.
Without further ado, we're letting you know the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle will offer an EPA-estimated 67 miles per gallon equivalent (mpge) city/highway/combined and an EPA-estimated driving range rating of 312 miles (502 km) on a single fill of hydrogen.

Due to that, the Mirai is the only zero emission electric vehicle on the market offering a range of over 300 miles. As tempting as that may sound, don't get too excited because Toyota is rather picky when it comes to selecting customers for the Mirai.

For example, the car will reach showrooms in October, but only in California. Moreover, only "select, eligible customers" will get one, due to the car's limited production to 3,000 units until 2017.

Also, those lucky enough to qualify for a Mirai will also "enjoy a comprehensive, ownership experience offering a range of world-class services", according to Toyota.

This includes three years’ worth of complimentary fuel (or $15,000 maximum, whichever comes first) and hydrogen station finder app. In addition, Toyota grants 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on critical fuel cell vehicle components including the FC stack and power control unit but also no cost scheduled maintenance for three years (or 35,000 miles, whichever comes first).

“Toyota realized in the early 90’s that electrification was key to the future of the automobile,” said Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz. “Just as the Prius introduced hybrid-electric vehicles to millions of customers nearly twenty years ago, the Mirai is now poised to usher in a new era of efficient, hydrogen transportation.”

We just hope they become more transparent on what eligible customers mean, so the Mirai units available will be reasonably assigned to clients.
