2016 Toyota Hilux Spied With No Camouflage

In September last year our spy photographers caught up with a camouflaged next generation Toyota Hilux being tested. Finally, after 10 long years, we get to have a new one. And if you can’t wait for the automaker to fully unveil the model, here’s a snapshot of one’s front end with no masking tape at all.

One of our readers, FerD, just sent us these two photos that undeniably show a 2016 Toyota Hilux with no disguises in a place that looks to be Toyota’s Thailand plant. The pickup truck was resting under some gray tarpaulin and our guy took a sneak peek of what was under it.

We gotta say the next Hilux looks a lot better, wearing Toyota’s next Keen Look design iteration, with slimmer headlights flowing more on the quarter panels and incorporating LED daytime running lights, a narrower upper grille, as well a redesigned bumper. The hood seems to be more bulged and gives the pickup a more sturdy look.

As with most trucks, there’s not much to admire at the rear, but even so, the new Hilux seems to come with new taillights, bumper and gate which also incorporates the third braking light.

We still don’t have any info about the mechanical part, but the new Hilux should be a bit wider to allow more space in the bed. Regarding at the automaker’s conservationism, the engine range won’t suffer many mods, but the current D-4D turbo diesel should be upgraded to 200 hp.

The interior should undergo changes too, featuring better quality materials and new shapes along new tech. Stay tuned for more.
