We honestly don't know if the Renault Megane GT is as good as the French say it is, but there a 90% chance they're right on the money with this toy. You see, the Renault online community has a theory that claims RS engineers get things right the second time. Considering the Megane GT is a bigger Clio RS… you get the picture.
There are so many segment firsts we honestly can't believe it's a Renault. First, the Megane GT can be equipped with 4Control, the first all-wheel steering system available on a compact car. At slow speeds, it will make the Megane feel like a smaller, easier to park car. But when you find a track or a wide-enough piece of road, magic happens.

The level of perceived quality is higher than the previous generation Megane, which is crucial for a Golf competitor. The LED headlights, a digital dashboard and that sexy diffuser with integrated exhaust ports make us want to place a deposit on the car.

The market is eager for a car like the Megane GT. While the 1.6-liter turbo engine isn't going to win drag races against the Golf GTI, a standard twin-clutch gearbox should make the experience feel a bit more thrilling.

205 horsepower should be enough to get to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7 seconds. When you also factor in the lowered suspension, sharper steering and throatier exhaust system, the total package starts to make sense.

Unfortunately, the only thing we've learned from this short video, recently released by Renault Sport, is that their drivers cheat at rock-paper-scissors. The body lean in the corners suggests they've made an everyday car that isn't designed for the track. Still, that's just what the speed-obsessed RS division needed to compete with the Germans. We'd take something made by Renault Sport over any Kia cee'd GT or Hyundai Veloster Turbo.
