According to JATO Dynamics, the most popular type of vehicle sold in Europe is the SUV. Of them, the Renault Captur reigns supreme. The french crossover is now available with unique color combos. Dubbed the Wave, this Captur will be built in limited numbers.
Now on sale in France, the 2016 Renault Captur Wave presents itself as an elegant and sport proposition. The exclusive Pearlescent White body color is joined by three other paint finishes: Marine Fumé Blue, Pacifique Blue, and Platinum Grey. The visual punch also consists of a black roof and grey skid plates.
The 17-inch alloy wheels have a diamond effect finish and come as standard with blue center caps. Look a little closer and you’ll spot that the Wave lives up to its name thanks to the blue decals applied on the roof and door mirror caps.
Once you open the door, the special edition model greets you with premium carpet mats with embroidered Captur badging, dark-colored dashboard with blue top-stitching, fabric upholstery with blue beading, and Chrome Frost trim.
Accorind got Renault, the Captur Wave can be outfitted with the Techno Pack at an additional cost. This adds the R-Link Evolution touchscreen multimedia system, an electrochromic rearview mirror, and a parking camera. The Wave can be had with four engines and two transmissions: Energy TCe 90, Energy TCe 120, Energy TCe 120 EDC, Energy dCi 90 eco², Energy dCi 90 EDC, and Energy dCi 110.
The cheapest of the lot, including purchase tax, is the Energy TCe 90 (€21,100). If you want the best there is, prepare to pony up €25,000 on the Energy dCi 90 with the EDC 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. If you want all-wheel-drive, the Russia-only Renault Kaptur has it. For those customers who want more space and a superior ride height, I strongly suggest having a look at the 2017 Renault Koleos II.
