Though production started at Halewood in July 2011, the smallest Range Rover of the lot doesn’t look dated at all. Howbeit, Land Rover decided to spruce the Evoque up a bit for 2015 (2016 model year in the U.S. of A.) and this is the result of that nip & tuck job.
I know this is an exercise of imagination, but it isn’t that far fetched to close your eyes a little and there you have it - a Star Wars Stormtrooper’s helmet with wheels! Besides the new-design wire-mesh and two-bar front grille, the bumper also adds bigger air intakes to add just tad more visual drama to the mix.

The 2016 Evoque is, at the same time, the first ever Land Rover nameplate that adds full-LED adaptive headlamps, with DRL LEDs sweeping across the full width of the headlight clusters.

It doesn’t appear that big of a difference, but we have to highlight the redesigned tailgate spoiler that integrates a slim LED-accented brake light. Other aesthetic add-ons include three all-new alloy wheels and a simple choice between the standard or Dynamic body kit. On the inside, the botox needle made a few notable changes to the instrument binnacle and... not much else because was a-OK from the get-go.

Regarding the oily bits, it’s just as we suspected: the Ingenium turbo diesel lineup that debuted on the Jaguar XE has been adopted by the 2016 Range Rover Evoque too. Marketed as the Ingenium TD4, this oil burner is 20 to 30 kilos lighter than the 2.2-liter and is offered in two power outputs: 150 PS (148 HP) with a fuel economy of 68 UK mpg (4.2 liters/100km) or 180 PS (177 HP) and a maximum of 59 UK mpg (4.8 liters/100km). An eD4 variant will fill the role of most efficient Evoque powertrain option out there.
