2016 Ram Heavy-Duty Pickup Truck Detailed

A reliable source found out what the 2016 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy-Duty have in store for us. Put bluntly, visual and technical changes aren’t huge but they’re welcomed nonetheless. For starters, production is set to start on July 20th and deliveries to dealerships will take “a month or two.”

The adjacent photograph is from the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, the venue Ram used to debut the new-for-2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited and it’s rather controversial snout and tailgate design. According to Allpar's oh2o, the Heavy-Duty Laramie Limited will replicate the visual cues of the 2015 light-duty pickup truck.

Only the less pompous models will retain a front grille design similar to the 2015 Ram 2500 and 3500 HD. It is believed that either crew cab or mega cab will be the sole body variant of the HD Laramie Limited. This snazzy HD workhorse gets unique wheels while the dually will carry the current wheel design.

As an added bonus, front and rear bumpers are painted, the chrome comes as an optional extra and the cabin will mirror the all-black interior of the 1500 Laramie Limited. The 2016 Ram Heavy-Duty in Big Horn, Lone Star, and Outdoorsman formats will boast redesigned 18-inch aluminum wheels. Additionally, all 2016 Ram HD trucks get a new center console layout.

LED lighting on each side at the rear of the box will come as standard on the Longhorn and Limited, but less pretentious models will get them as an optional extra. The feature is included with the Luxury Group and Rambox. Powertrain-wise, a CNG bi-fuel option will arrive on the rear-wheel drive crew cab with the long bed, RWD and 4x4 regular cab pickup trucks.

oh2o further informs that parking assistance will be standard on the Laramie and higher-specced models. The system will feature a toggle function between the backup camera and a cargo view camera. The latter is included in the Convenience Group package along with rain-sensing wipers and auto-beam headlights.

On an ending note, exterior color changes include the replacement of deep cherry red with red pearl. Luxury Brown will be phased out in favor of Western Brown (how American does that sound?), and a pearl white hue will be made available on range-topping 2016 Ram Heavy-Duty trucks starting from September.
