Instead of focusing its efforts on the major update for the light-duty pickup truck family (slated for the calendar year 2017), Ram released yet another special edition. Compared to special editions before it, this Ram 1500 tries to appeal to children.
The black go-faster stripes, the Stinger Yellow paintwork, the smoke headlight tint, everything about this pickup truck is made to resemble the heroic Autobot from the Transformers franchise. “The Ram 1500 Sport offers unique features for customers who enjoy aggressive styling and great performance,” declared Mike Manley, the head of Ram Trucks. “Truck buyers are very attached to their vehicles and the Stinger Yellow Sport model adds a custom appearance to the segment’s best-looking truck.” You don’t say? Nevertheless, it’s a nice pickup.

Already on sale in the United States of America, the 2016 Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport is priced at $43,145 (plus $1,195 destination), making it $7,160 more expensive than a regular Ram 1500 Sport with the 5.7 HEMI V8 engine. Available in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, the crew cab workhorse comes as standard with an 8-speed auto, chrome tipped exhaust system, 22-inch wheels on the 4x2 model, and a vented hood.

Once you step inside, the 2016 Ram 1500 Stinger Yellow Sport greets you with a black cockpit highlighted with yellow and Light Black Chrome details. Sport embroidery on the seats, Ram’s head logo on the headrests, and an 8.4AN Uconnect infotainment system with navigation and parking camera are standard.

Depending on what you tick from the options list, this workhorse is capable of towing up to 10,650 pounds (4,830 kg) and boasts a max payload of 1,810 pounds (821 kilograms). If you want to buy this Ram, you’d better be quick about it because the production is limited to 2,250 units. If you want a yellow Ram 1500 sans the black stripes on the hood, the Yellow Rose of Texas special edition could be that truck.
