Ram Trucks is on a bit of a roll as of late. Remember the teaser Tweet that hinted at an updated 2500 Power Wagon? Well, the brand actually showcased the bravado-laden and off-road ready Ram Rebel at the Detroit Auto Show in January. So what’s your take on the announcement you can see just above?
It’s clear as day that Ram Trucks will be unveiling something new at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, right after the Detroit debuts of the Ram Rebel and Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE. If our money was on the table, we’re betting it all on a minor update of the light-duty.

Yup. Our confidence is based on the Fiat-Chrysler Bank am Bellevue conference. The presentation featured a particular slide that shows FCA’s product launches ’til 2016. According to that slide, the Ram marque will introduce the long-awaited minor update of the light-duty pickup truck - the 2016 Ram 1500.

Though the 2016 Ram 1500’s launch hasn’t been confirmed by the brand at the time of writing, we do hope that the FCA-owned company won’t go for yet another special edition model or diesel workhorse. The DS/DJ Ram light-duty was introduced back in 2008, with a minor nip & tuck job operated with the 2013 model year. All things considered, that makes the highly popular Ram 1500 a little gray-haired now.

The McCormick Place in Chicago will be the place of the mystery product unveiling on February 12th. In related Ram Trucks-news, next year will bring a similar minor update for the heavy-duty and chassis cab trucks (2017 Ram 2500, 3500, Chassis Cab). Word on the street is that the light-duty will receive a major revamp in 2017 (2018 Ram 1500), while the heavy-duty will get the same treatment one year later.
