The Porsche Cayman GT4 may have weakened our knees with its manual transmission in Geneva, but we'll remind you the mid-engined bad boy still hasn't completed its journey to the US. In fact, a Cayman GT4 was spotted testing in US spec soon after the Swiss venue.
In one of the very few night time spy videos, you can see the GT4 running around on the German Autobahn, showing its American-spec rear apron to everybody.

Judging by how the driver acts, he most likely knows the Porsche is being recorded so he... treats the camera with hefty doses of throttle, even flashing his hazard lights. Still, the "camera car" was a Mini, so it was all done in style. Infrared style.

While Porsche has already announced most of the US specs, the fuel efficiency figures are not in yet. Heck, for a track special like this, they're just as relevant as the official 0 to 60 sprint time. Wait, what? Oh yes, as some of you know, Porsche is always conservative about acceleration numbers, so you shouldn't be amazed in case you get your hands on a GT4 and notice it gets to 60 mph quicker than the advertised 4.2 seconds.

As for the chances of owning one, well the $84,600 MSRP may not be the issue here, but the availability is. Depending on the demand, unofficial sources report Porsche will build up to around 2,500 units. Worldwide.

This is the first time the Cayman is allowed to enter proper 911 territory with its Carrera S-borrowed 3.8 flat six and its GT3-based suspension and many, many people will want to get behind the wheel of this 385 Porsche horsepower mid-engined toy. Oh and it's got a big wing at the back. That sells too.
