2016 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (turbo) Gets Fabspeed Cat-Bypass Exhaust, Hits Dyno

The 2016 Carrera 4S in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page has been gifted with a custom exhaust that comes from Fabspeed. With the aftermarket developer aiming for the kind of aural experience that would draw attention, the company went for a wild setup.

To be more precise, the 3.0-liter turbocharged flat six occupying the posterior of the coupe was gifted with a system offering a catalytic converter bypass.

As a result, the boxer soundtrack of the 911 grows stronger, with the Porsche growling as it climbs towards the superior area of the rev counter.

With the altered soundtrack being one of the two major drawbacks brought by the mid-cycle boost, we expect plenty of 991.2 owners to turn to the tuning scene in order to make their machines more vocal.

Truth be told, the 911 never dominated the world of go-fast machines in terms of soundtrack, so perhaps many put on their purist face with too much dedication.

However, we can't mention the aural loss without also explaining the refresh that has made the 911 significantly faster. We need to look no further than yesterday's 2016 Carrera 911 S Nurburgring time story to notice that.

And the output bump brought by the switch to forced induction is just one of the factors that have contributed to this. For instance, the Carrera (4) S models now offer four-wheel steering as an option, while their rear wheels are wider. Speaking of which, while Porsche has announced a 7:30 'Ring time for the Carrera S, the automaker hasn't said anything about the time of the four-wheel-drive model.
